Why This Book Matters
This book tells the story of one of the fastest growing megachurches in America that decided to go all in on making disciples and starting home churches. They set a goal of reaching on million people in ten years and realized the only approach that could get there was making disciples and starting home churches. The cost of reaching one million people in buildings with paid staff would be in the billions. But not so with home churches led by everyday ordinary disciples!
From Megachurch to Multiplication may help move the needle for some traditional churches to try alternative approaches to fulfilling the Great Commission and also help with the launch of new home churches.
Core Message
This book is basically a primer on the disciple making movement principles (DMM) and church planting movement principles (CPM) all boiled down into short, concise chapters. You will learn the gist of both disciple making and home church planting in its simplest form in this book. This is all laid out in the context of them learning these principles through mentors like Roy Moran and Stan Parks (two amazing disciple makers). You basically get a walk through of their best learnings and processes that they spent a very long time and invested a lot of energy and resources into learning and executing on just for the price of the book.
Hopefully this book and their message will inspire countless other congregations to pursue obedience to Jesus in making disciples above everything else. And it cost this church something as they lost members, sent members, lost contribution and more but it is all worth it! That is a message more traditional churches need to hear!
Chris Galanos, the author and leader at the Experience Life church in Lubbock, TX has actually worked to get paid less and less by the church in order to lead by example that this work is not to rely on paid staff! Good for him!

Strengths: This book will challenge traditional churches to think outside the building and catalyze movements with their resources.
Limitations: Traditional churches will more than likely feel some resistance to the message of this book because it comes at the cost of some of the most desired metrics (Sunday attendance and contribution)
Home Church Application
While this book is about a traditional church making the shift, I would still encourage home church people to read this book in order to glean the simple disciple making and home church planting principles embedded in the book. This book puts together what it has taken me quite some time to piece together from other books and ministries all in one package.
About the Author
Chris Galanos was? the lead minister of the Experience Life church in Lubbock, TX. This church started in Chris’ living room and very quickly grew to be one of the fastest growing megachurches in the U.S. Chris has committed himself to disciple making movement principles in order to reach one million people for Jesus. It looks like he started a ministry called “Tentmaking Pastors” that are bi-vocational or volunteer ministers who derive their income from being in the marketplace.
