Spiritual Attack and Starting a Home Church

demons and spiritual attack

Fewer and fewer Christians believe in Satan as a real being and that makes someone even more vulnerable to spiritual attack. But the more I help people with home churches and the more progress we make locally with home churches, the more I am convinced that Satan is alive and “well”.

Satan doesn’t know everything but he knows a lot and he has seen a lot and I believe he knows what the edge of a spiritual breakthrough looks like and he loves to disrupt it.

Why does this happen?

When you are on the edge of a breakthrough, Satan may just show up and try to distract you. Often this is financial chaos and stress. We have seen health crises pop up. We have also seen relationships or employment take a hit right at a critical time. These things keep you off balance so that you may become less effective in the work God is calling you to do. When these things happen, these events and situations are stressful and require attention and that means less attention to our calling.

If you are going through something crazy, know that Satan may just see you as a threat and he may see that a breakthrough is about to happen.

What can you do?

Hang in there and let us pray for you!

I encourage you to spend some time in Ephesians 6 because it is there that Paul informs us on how to deal with spiritual attack. Here are the relevant verses to help you prepare.

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” – Eph 6:10-18
